Tamil actor Karthik Sabesh’s death at just 37 has left his family in mourning. The actor, who made his film debut alongside Dhanush and appeared in several Tamil films, died following health-related complications, according to reports.
What makes the loss even more painful is that Karthik’s family has been through two other deaths in a relatively short span of time. His father, music composer M. C. Sabesan, died in October 2025, while his uncle, veteran composer Deva, passed away on October 17, 2026. Karthik’s death comes just three days after Deva’s passing.
Who Was Karthik Sabesh?
Karthik entered the film industry in 2004 with Dreams, in which he shared screen space with Dhanush. He was the son of music composer M. C. Sabesan, also known as Sabesh. Over the years, he appeared in movies such as Dham, Vallavan, Kadhal Solla Vandhen, Kulir 100 Degree, Udhayam NH4, Pattathu Yaanai and Burma. He also acted in the Telugu film Thakita Thakita, which was released in 2010.

Karthik belonged to a family that has made its mark on Tamil cinema, particularly through music. His father, M. C. Sabesan, worked with his brother Murali as the music director duo Sabesh-Murali. The duo composed music for films including Samuthiram, Naina, Thavamai Thavamirundhu, Imsai Arasan 23 am Pulikesi, Indralogathil Na Azhagappan and Pokkisham. Sabesan died in October 2025 following health issues.
The family was still dealing with that loss when Deva passed away on October 17, 2026, at the age of 75. The veteran composer, also known as Thenisai Thendral, died due to heart failure. Deva was a familiar name to Tamil music lovers, having composed popular soundtracks for films such as Baashha, Annamalai and Aasai.

What Happened To Karthik Sabesh?
Sources close to the family told IANS that the actor had been unwell for some time. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city where he breathed his last at around 11.15 pm on Monday, October 19, night.
He is survived by his wife, Ramya Karthik, and their two daughters, Prishanithara and Hairanithara. His sisters, Geetha Sabesh and Archana Sabesh, are also among those mourning his loss.
Reports said his last rites were scheduled to take place at the Valasaravakkam crematorium in Chennai at around 4.30 pm on October 20.
