Rajinikanth & Nelson form a massy blockbuster with seetimaar cameos –

Jailer 2 Review Movie Talkies:

Rajinikanth got a commercial blockbuster after a long hiatus with Jailer, despite the pandemic effect. Nelson delivered proper fan service, as he is a Rajini fan himself. Now, both are back with another sure-shot blockbuster, Jailer 2! Yes, the sequel is a paisa vasool entertainer. If you have seen Jailer, you know what to expect from its sequel, and believe me, you will get all that you are expecting, along with a couple of surprising cameos. Nelson has made one of the best sequels to a massy film in the post-pandemic era, with a heavy dose of Rajinism. In the first part, Tiger was fighting one villain; here, he takes on five villains. Now, imagine the hysteria!

Jailer 2 Story:

Jailer 2 begins after the events of Jailer, with Tiger Muthuvel Pandian preparing his family for the threats coming their way. Dileep (Suraj Venjaramoodu) is searching for Varman’s killer but is unable to trace him. Tiger has managed to deceive him by working as a driver for a local goon, but Dileep soon discovers his real identity. After this, new villains emerge. Chakri (Mithun Chakraborty) is the main boss, while Bodhi (SJ Suryah), Kantha (Vidya Balan), Ved (Jatin Sarna) and Sharva (Hakim Shahjahan) add to Tiger’s troubles. Tiger and his team must eliminate them, or they will be eliminated themselves. Who will win this deadly battle?

“The real hero of Udta Teer is its unique, genre-bending premise,” says Ayushmann Khurrana –

Jailer 2 has some slow patches right from the beginning, and a few more appear in the second half. But don’t worry, the other massy scenes more than cover for them. The screenplay needs that slow setup to build anticipation before things explode, and that’s how you create a massy bonanza! The film is loaded with fan-friendly, crowd-pleasing moments that are sure to trigger hooting and screaming in single screens as well as multiplexes. The South Indian audience will go mad for sure, while the North Indian audience gets Hrithik Roshan joining Rajini. The dialoguebaazi isn’t particularly heavy, but it is good enough and arrives when it is needed the most. Towards the end, Rajini sir delivers a dialogue: “For 50 years, many have been trying…” Pure Thalaiva moment!

Jailer 2 Cast:

The performances fare well. Rajinikanth leads the package with his never-ending swag and gives you plenty of moments to shout his name. Mithun Chakraborty, despite being disabled, feels dangerous enough, but who can outscore Tiger after all? Vidya Balan gets a ferocious role, and those little moments of flirting are cute. As an actress, though, she could have done a lot better. Suraj Venjaramoodu does well in his part, while SJ Suryah takes charge as a menacing villain. Ramya Krishnan, Mirnaa and Rithvik barely get anything to do. Kannada superstar Shiva Rajkumar delivers another massy cameo. Mohanlal gets a whistle-worthy entry, but there is nothing much beyond that. Jackie Shroff, too, has little to do despite being part of the cameo brigade. Hrithik Roshan sparkles, while Vijay Sethupathi comes as a massive surprise despite making just a brief appearance. Nora Fatehi flaunts her abs and dancing skills effectively in the item number. Yogi Babu, Sunil Sukhada, Kottayam Nazeer, Bagavathi Perumal and the rest of the cast are decent.

Jailer 2

Jailer 2 lacks the musical support that made the first part so memorable, but Anirudh’s background score is electrifying. “Hukum Reloaded” is exactly what keeps the film riding high, and it has been used perfectly. The cinematography is decent, while the editing is strictly okay. The costumes, locations and VFX are below the mark, but these shortcomings hardly matter when the mass moments land so effectively.

Jailer 2 Movie Review:

Nelson Dilipkumar creates blockbuster episodes of a massy entertainer and lines them up in the perfect sequence. Just when viewers start expecting something new from Tiger and his team, another setup arrives and blows them away. It’s truly a mass blockbuster and perhaps the best film in the genre since Jawan. In some scenes, Nelson has outdone Atlee because he doesn’t seem interested in copying things or creating a mishmash of ideas. He keeps things original, borrows a little from his own predecessor and elevates Rajini hysteria to a whole new level.

Jailer 2

The only problem with the film is that it occasionally drags during conversations. Adding comedy to this one is a fine trick, and surprisingly, it works too. But then, people aren’t coming to watch Jailer 2 for comedy, right? Nelson had to deliver those action blocks and crazy, hooting-worthy scenes, and he does exactly that. Overall, Jailer 2 is a fine watch for the masses and might even warrant a repeat viewing. Hopefully, it becomes a blockbuster, because anything less than that would be underwhelming.
