Shark Tank India: First Time On The Show; Transgender Laxmi Narayan Tripathi Shares Her Business Idea!

Some previously unseen clips from the Indian season of Shark Tank, which aired from December 20th, 2021, to February 11th, 2022, have just been available online. Laxmi Narayan Tripathy, a transgender woman, showcased her company with her long-time assistant Manish Jain in a viral video now doing the rounds online. Through her company, Kineer Water Services, she provides transgender people with a source of income and a workplace.

Kineer

‘Kineer’ Water Services launched in 2018, and since then, they’ve supplied water to several well-known businesses, including Vistara Airlines, Sodexo, and Lalit Hotels, among others. This firm directly or indirectly employs about three-hundred transgender people, and Laxmi and Manish said that formerly homeless and/or transgender people are finding work at their firm.

The company aims to become one of the country’s top three bottled water producers. They sought a one crore investment in exchange for ten percent of the company and urged the sharks to participate in the revolution.

The Sharks

Namita Thapar commended the pitcher for establishing Kineer and inquired about the impetus behind its development. According to Laxmi Narayan’s response, transgender people are often hired by corporations for promotional purposes but then promptly fired. She advocates for businesses to stop discriminating against women and assess applicants only based on their qualifications and how they can advance the company. Laxmi is a prominent figure in the Indian LGBTQ and transgender communities because of her work as a social activist.

The sharks said no since Laxmi and Manish’s business plan didn’t convince them. But all were unanimous that they wished they could be a part of what Laxmi was doing. According to Anupam Mittal, “I appreciate the cause and your energy, Laxmi ji.” The emphasis on job creation is commendable, and Namita Thapar said that the company’s human resources department would contact the applicant to address the matter further.
