I will not let my failures define me – Beyond Bollywood

Despite the tough recent phase, the gorgeous actor looks in great spirits as she gears up for her next Gaslight [2023]

Sara Ali Khan in Gaslight [2023]

She came as a breath of fresh air with Kedarnath [2018]. She was lauded for her transformation from a bubbly, chubby girl to a supremely fit, sexy actress.  Khan earned praise for her talent too in her debut film. The same year, Simmba [2018] arrived. Though Ranveer Singh headlined that film, Khan basked in the glory of giving back-to-back hits. A thing synonymous with her mother Amrita, who had a record four-five successive hits at the start of her career.

She was touted for big things, but come Love Aaj Kal [2020], it’s been a different story for Khan.  Coolie No.1 [2020] was a disaster. Then came Atrangi Re [2021] which had its moments, but Khan evoked mixed views.  Honestly speaking, the constructive criticism is justified too.

Post Covid-19, it’s been a different phase for Khan, who has struggled professionally and courted controversy on the personal front too, especially in the aftermath of the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. We asked her how she looks at this career-phase, what’s been the learnings?

“I think the learnings are that you should do everything. Try different genres, I always aspired to do all kind of films. That is the endeavor now. I should learn from each genre. Also, I will not let my failures define me. I need to rise above them, forgive myself and move ahead in my career,” said Khan.

Khan will next be seen in the thriller Gaslight [2023] possibly with a horror element. The poster has Vikrant Massey holding a gaslight with Sara Ali Khan and Chitrangda Singh in front. Where is the trio walking to in the dark?

“We are coming to you on 31 March with our Gaslight.  We want you to leave your gaslight and watch our Gaslight,” Khan said with a smile.

The actor will be seen in different avatar altogether with her character Meesha on a wheelchair. Khan acknowledged that this is something that she hasn’t explored before.

“This is totally different from the character, or genre that I have done before. I’m on a wheelchair as you have seen in the trailer. Beyond it, there is a dark world here, a different character. It is totally different space. I hope you all like it,” Sara said during the brief media interaction.

Gaslight is set to be released on Disney + Hotstar on 31 March. Watch Sara Ali Khan giving soundbite below.
