A list of the biggest Bollywood hits this year.

In 2023, both of Shah Rukh Khan’s films Pathaan and Jawaan experienced tremendous success at the box office.

The year 2023 belonged to Bollywood. No qualms in admitting it. Kickstarting the year was Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, where the superstar made a roaring comeback to the big screens after a four-year-long hiatus. It was followed by Jawan, which too generated a massive response from the masses. The latest film to have wowed the audience is definitely Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor in a never-before-seen avatar. With 2023 coming to a close, here are the top 10 biggest hits of Bollywood in 2023. Check them out:

Animal

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead is witnessing an unstoppable run at the box office. The high-octane action entertainer revolves around a son’s love for his father which slowly turns into obsession. Released on December 1, Animal has successfully entered the 700-crore club.

Pathaan

Shah Rukh Khan proved yet again why he is called the Baadshah of Bollywood. After his past few films failed to impress the masses at the box office, King Khan took a sabbatical for almost four years, only to make a roaring return in and as Pathaan. The actioner also starred Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in important roles. Pathan minted over Rs 1,000 crore at the ticket window.

Gadar 2

Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel’s 2001 blockbuster hit Gadar paved the way for the film’s sequel to return 21 years later. Shifting away from Tara Singh (Sunny Deol) and Sakeena’s (Ameesha Patel) romance, Gadar 2 revolved mainly around the father-son relationship. While the masses cheered for Sunny Deol, Utkarsh Sharma who played the actor’s on-screen son was appreciated for his performance. Gadar 2 collected over Rs 600 crore.

Tiger 3

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s Ek Thaa Tiger franchise has a separate fanbase. The same happened when the film’s third sequel titled Tiger 3 premiered on the big screens on November 12. The Maneesh Sharma directorial once again documents the journey of Zoya (Katrina) and Tiger (Salman) as they face a personal challenge from enemy forces. Saving the family and their country comes first. Tiger 3 amassed more than Rs 450 crore worldwide, rendering its name in the blockbuster category.

The Kerala Story

This highly controversial film features Adah Sharma and revolves around the misuse of Islam for terrorism. The powerful narrative and tragic tale contributed to the film’s worldwide earnings of Rs 300 crore.

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani

Karan Johar took us on a sweet nostalgic ride to his Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham days with this Ranveer Singh-Alia Bhatt film. The story of two polarising personalities — Rocky Randhawa and Rani Chatterjee formed the crux of the vibrant and feel-good movie. The rebels in love cross familial troubles to prove that love is above everything. With powerful performances, grand sets, and peppy dance numbers, this KJo directorial gained over Rs 350 crore worldwide.

Jawan

After Pathaan, Shah Rukh Khan stormed into the theatres with another action-entertainer, but with a social message at its core. Raising the importance of voting, Jawan, directed by Atlee was one of 2023’s biggest blockbusters.

While Nayanthara, Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, and Ridhi Dogra excelled in their parts, Vijay Sethupathi as the antagonist sent chills down our spine. Released on September 7, Jawan minted over Rs 11,00 crore worldwide.
