In an interview with Galatta Pink, former actress Gayathri Raghuram, who predominantly worked in the Malayalam film industry, candidly discussed the challenges she faced due to her authentic look. Reportedly, her recent photoshoot also received criticism for the same reason.
She openly shared how people have resorted to name-calling, emphasising that while many turn to various cosmetic products, numerous middle-class women aim to maintain a youthful appearance. The actress humorously suggested that all one needs to do is style their hair well. She firmly believes that beauty doesn’t have to come with a hefty price tag. She further asserted that confidence plays a crucial role. She revealed that when people see her sister, they often question if they’re truly related.
A few months back, Gayathri Raguram made headlines when she unveiled her bald look to the world. She posted a video on her official Instagram account, explaining that her decision was part of a spiritual journey. She visited Tirupati and chose to donate her hair, a move that held personal significance for her. She also wrote, “My prayer for 10 years. And I did it.”
Gayathri Raghuram is the second daughter of renowned choreographers Raghuram and Girija Raghuram. She embarked on her acting career at the age of 14, debuting in the film Repallelo Radha, alongside another newcomer, Dileep. She later appeared in the 2002 film Charlie Chaplin, sharing the screen with an ensemble cast including Prabhu Deva and Abhirami. The film, a comedy-drama directed by Sakthi Chidambaram, showcased her versatility. In addition to acting, Gayathri has also made a mark in the industry as a choreographer.
