Before this, the actor gained fame through a romantic comedy film titled Simple Agi Ondh Love Story. It was written and directed by the debutant director Sunil Kumar. The movie was released in 2013. Actress Shwetha Srivastav and hero Rakshit Shetty played the lead role in this movie. Rakshit Shetty who already debuted in the Kannada movie industry was approached by director Suni. He requested the actor to listen to his movie story once. By that time, Rakshit Shetty had already heard several stories from the directors and this time he agreed to but on a condition.

Rakshit Shetty said, “I will listen to your story only if you pay the coffee bill”. On this agreement, the actor and the director went on a coffee date to discuss the story. After listening to the script, Rakshit Shetty immediately agreed to do the movie which led to the birth of the movie Simple Agi Ondh Love Story.

The movie gained widespread appreciation from the critics and the audience. It was also remade in Telugu in 2018 as Idi Naa Love Story. Bharath BJ composed the music for the movie. One of the songs of the movie Baanali Badalago became an instant hit among the youth. It was sung by Sonu Nigam. The lyricist of this song– Siddu Kodipura also won the Filmfare award for this song.

Shwetha Srivastav also gained fame through this movie. After the success of the film, Rakshit Shetty was popularly nicknamed the Simple Star of Kannada cinema. Later he gave many hit movies such as 777 Charlie and Kirik Party.
