Responding to a fan’s query on social media, Unni confirmed the cancellation with a clear and heartfelt message: “Apologies, but I have dropped plans to continue the Marco series. Too much negativity around the project. I’ll try my best to bring something bigger and better than Marco. Thanks for all the love and positivity. Cheers.”

Sources close to the actor suggest that while Marco 2 had ambitious plans, the increasing online trolling and polarized opinions became a major hurdle in moving the project forward. By choosing to step away, Unni has taken a firm stand against toxic discourse while promising to return with a stronger and more impactful offering. Marco’s character was involved in a lot of slashing and brutal killings in the film, which led to online negativity, while many watched the film for the same reason.
