At a time when Sunny Deol is basking in the glory of the gigantic success of Gadar 2 [2023], the actor, BJP politician is also courting news for the wrong reasons. Just a day after news of alleged loan default emerged, Bank of Baroda has withdrawn the E-auction notice of Deol’s Juhu Bungalow in Mumbai citing ‘technical reasons’.

It is not clear though what are the technical reasons here.

The matter perhaps dates to 2016, when brothers Ajay and Vijay Sing Deol, popularly known as Sunny and Bobby Deol, had taken a film-financing loan from Bank of Baroda under the banner of Vijayta Films, where the duo are directors. The film in question is Ghayal Once Again [2016] which was made at a budget of Rs50 crore. The film tanked at the box office. The Deol family don’t have a great record of producing successful films.

Deol allegedly has defaulted on the loan and the unpaid dues are amounting to the tune of Rs55 crore.

The villa is used for commercial purposes as it houses a preview theater, plus it is also offers post-production facilities. The property is under the name of Sunny Sounds Pvt Ltd. Deol had been named as a corporate guarantor.

In addition to being a seasoned actor, Deol is also the acting BJP MP from Gurdaspur, Punjab. Thus far there is no official word from Sunny Deol. With Gadar smashing records and amassing over Rs350 crore nett, one would hope that this success, and future plum opportunities, would enable Deol to clear his dues.
