Shefali Shah loses International Emmys 2023 award.
Shefali Shah was nominated at the International Emmy Awards 2023 for Best Actress for Delhi Crime but lost it to Mexican actress Karla Souza.
Shefali Shah did not win the International Emmy for Best Actress for her performance for Delhi Crime. The awards ceremony took place in the US on Monday night and Shefali was nominated for the Netflix series. The actress lost the award to Mexican actress Karla Souza for her performance in the series ‘La Cada [Dive]’. The actresses were nominated alongside Connie Nielsen for the Danish project The Dreamer, Becoming Karen Blixen, and Billie Piper in I Hate Suzie Too.
The announcement about Karla’s win was made on X (previously known as Twitter) by the official handle of International Emmy Awards. “The International Emmy for Best Performance by an Actress goes to “Karla Souza in La Cada [Dive]” produced by Madam / Filmadora / Infinity Hill / Amazon (sic),” they wrote, sharing a photo of Karla from the series.
Although Shefali is yet to react to the loss, photos of her with Vir Das and Jim Sarb, who are also nominated this year, have gone viral. Shefali was seen walking the red carpet in a red saree.
The nominations were announced a few weeks ago. Speaking about getting the nod yet again, Shefali told News18 Showsha, “Well, I’d like to grant people, the audience as well as people from our industry far more intelligence and sensitivity and sensibility that they don’t just appreciate me, because I have an Emmy nomination. But yeah, having said that, the Emmy nomination is a validation and I can’t that take away from it and I am extremely honoured.”
In the same chat, Shefali also confirmed that Delhi Crime 3 will be made. “We’d be doing Delhi Crime Season 3, but it’s still in the writer’s room,” she said.
