Writer, former model and actress Tara Deshpande needs no introduction. She is popularly known for her films like Sudhir Mishra’s Iss Raat Ki Subah Nahin and Kaizad Gustad’s Bombay Boys. Apart from her outstanding performance, the diva is also known for her active social media presence. Recently, the actress has tweeted regarding the truth of the advertisements of different brands of shampoo, in which the model’s hair looks shiny, thick, and soft, which is currently going viral on social media. Tara has recently dropped a photo of herself from one of her shampoo commercials.

In the photo, Tara is seen wearing a baby pink full-sleeve top and flaunting her black, shiny long hair. Sharing the photo, she wrote, “As late as 2007, shampoo ads in India were about long, black hair. My hair wasn’t black. It was brown; we had to colour it black for commercials. It also had to be poker straight (which is not natural for Indian hair), so the stylist would put it on an ironing board and iron it. I’m glad curly, short, wavy, brown, more natural hair is seen in India now. This was shot for Pantene Pro V in, I think, maybe 2000. My contract disallowed cutting my hair for two years!”

The post was shared on December 14 and has till now garnered 187.2K views on Twitter.

Since her marriage to an American citizen, Tara has moved to Boston, where she is currently running a catering agency. Her husband is a graduate of Harvard Business School and is in finance. Tara published her first book at the age of 23, which is titled Fifty and Done (HarperCollins). Before entering the world of movies, she was a model, an MTV VJ, and a regular on the Mumbai stage. She played Begum Sumroo in Alyque Padamsee’s play of the same name. Her book, A Sense for Spice: Recipes and Stories from a Konkan Kitchen (Westland Publishers), was published in 2012, and Indian Sense of Salad in 2018.
