Akshay Kumar has once again stepped into the music world with the track titled Shambhu. The actor has lent his voice to the devotional number, alongside singers Sudhir Yaduvanshi and Vikram Montrose. Choreographed by Ganesh Acharya, the song pays tribute to Lord Shiva. Akshay Kumar has already portrayed the role of the Messenger of the deity in the Amit Rai directorial OMG 2. He also displayed his rapping skills in Singh Is Kinnng and explored his singing abilities in films like Special 26 and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. The actor’s latest song Shambu, which was dropped on February 5 has garnered widespread reactions from the masses.

Akshay Kumar, dressed in traditional wear, turned into an ardent Shiv devotee in the song Shambu. The music video opens with him sporting a sacred Tripundra tilak as he dances to the lyrically brilliant number. Surrounded by a frenzied crowd, the actor gives a terrific performance, his intense expressions stealing the show. He opted for long hair for the song resembling that of Shiva and his body was covered with tattoos, each harbouring a special significance to the deity. Akshay holds a trident in his hands, wears a Rudraksha, and a nose ring as he dances his heart out to the energetic song.

In a few frames, Akshay Kumar plays with fire, in others he is smeared with ash, and in some, he swings a power drum or damru — all symbolic of Lord Shiva. But with every deft hand gesture and movement, he never fails to capture the divine power of the deity. In one sequence, the actor matches his steps to the holy upbeat song with a conch shell or shankha in his hand. Sharing the announcement of Shambu’s release, Akshay wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Our divine tribute, Shambhu, is here for all to experience.”

Social media users lauded Akshay Kumar for his vocal talent and dancing skills in Shambhu. “Akshay sir, looking stunning. Har Har Mahadev,” commented one impressed individual. “Goosebumps after hearing this mahadev song,” quipped another. “What a powerful devotional song. He is literally on fire mode in the whole song with his killer looks, expressions, and unmatchable energy level,” noted a third fan.

According to a report by Mid-Day, Akshay Kumar was originally supposed to only feature in the song. But singer Vikram Montrose and music supervisor Meggha Bali later decided that the actor should also sing the number. They heaped praise on Akshay for being “thoroughly prepared” before giving his voice to Shambhu. Lyricist Abhinav Sekhar recalled that the OMG star loved the lyrics and recorded the number in one day by undergoing early morning rehearsals.
