OMG 2 v Gadar 2! Yami Gautam Dhar has happily taken a picture with Sunny Deol’s ‘handpump’ cutout – Beyond Bollywood

The actor admits that the rival film is perhaps likely to rake in a good opening, but is confident that her film will grow through word of mouth.

A box office clash story is largely redundant but it doesn’t stop the overzealous scribes from throwing the A v/s B question. Yami Gautam Dhar is an integral part of OMG  2 [2023] which is produced by super star Akshay Kumar, who also plays a leading character in the film. OMG 2 will battle it out with Gadar 2, the sequel to Sunny Deol’s 2001 blockbuster Gadar – Ek Prem Katha. OMG 2 is Gautam’s first theatrical release since Bala [2019].

During a group conversation, Gautam was asked about the OMG 2 vs Gadar 2 box office tussle. 

“I had a clash before when Kaabil released alongside Raees [2017],” Gautam was quick to remind all.  She adds, “Honestly, unless someone asks that question, I’m not feeling anything. Look, I think it is more to do with the producers. I feel for them because it is not easy. It must have been unavoidable circumstances that this clash is to happen”

Gautam had nothing but praise for seasoned actor Sunny Deol. She even revealed about her recent Gadar fan moment.

“Sunny sir will aways be one of the most loved actors. I have taken a picture of Sunny Deol’s ‘handpump’ cutout during the special screening of OMG. I said I’m posting this on my social media, I will wish them luck. We wish for both films to do well, said the actress.

Gautam graciously acknowledged brand Gadar, but was also quietly confident about her film.

She says, “Of course, Gadar has huge fan following. It will park all the money [ box office opening] but the genres that have done well for me, are all about longevity, word of mouth. I think it will come down to that”.

Both films are set to be released on 11 August.
