Siddharth Anand To Produce Nayak 2?

Producer Deepak Mukut recently broke silence on Siddharth Anand and Milan Lutharia helming Nayak.

Back in 2001, Anil Kapoor’s Nayak turned out to be a huge hit. Over the years, the film has amassed a cult following, and now buzz is that a sequel to the film will be made soon. The latest report claimed that Siddharth Anand is all set to make a sequel to the film with Milan Luthria as the director. However, the news came as a surprise to producer Deepak Mukut, who recently revealed in an interview that he has the rights to Nayak.

While speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Deepak shared, “For a long time, I have had the rights to Nayak. Siddharth Anand and I were in talks. But nothing was finalized. So, I am the one who’ll decide with whom I’d like to make the film. I am also in talks with someone else. I really don’t know how this news has come up. It’s quite shocking for me.”

Deepak further added, “If he wants to make Nayak 2, then he has to do it with me. He alone can’t go ahead solo, as he doesn’t have the rights.”

When asked by Mukut if he was aware that Siddharth was planning to make a sequel with Milan Lutharia, he replied, “I was not aware at all.” When asked what would happen if Siddharth Anand went ahead and made the film, he said, “He can’t. How can he when he doesn’t possess the rights?”

Deepak Mukut also opened up about how he acquired the rights to Nayak. He shared, “I got the rights from Nayak’s producer, Mr. A. S. Rathnam. I also have the negative rights to his other films, like Tejasvini (1994), Dil Hi Dil Mein (1999), etc. It was 10 years ago that I procured these rights.”

Earlier, a Pinkvilla report stated that “Nayak 2 will be produced by Siddharth and Mamta Anand under their banner, Marflix Pictures. Much like the original film, this one too is a big-scale commercial entertainer set against the backdrop of politics and will be directed by Milan Luthria. The makers have cracked a plot that organically leads itself towards the Nayak sequel and has a strong undercurrent of being a vigilante flick.”
