‘Let’s Get Justice As Soon As Possible’: Actor Darshan Thoogudeepa on Cauvery Water Dispute

Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have been locked in a legal battle over the share of the Cauvery River for a long time now. A senior Jal Shakti Ministry official informed the public about this on Monday.
Now, Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa has expressed his views against this decision today. He wrote the tweet in Kannada which loosely translates to, “There has been a continuous attempt to get more water by cutting the Kaveri water from Karnataka’s share. This year there is a lot of water scarcity in the state. At this time, there is a lot of damage to the irrigated area, so let’s consider all the statistics and get justice as soon as possible.”

Another user tweeted that Darshan is the only actor who has decided to take a stand for the locals living in Kannada.

Darshan has also dominated the headlines for his political views apart from the opinions on social media. He campaigned for the Bharatiya Janata Party in the 2023 Karnataka Assembly elections. He participated in a rally from the Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) constituency. Roopakala M of the Indian National Congress won the seat by defeating Ashwini Sampangi of the Bharatiya Janata Party with a margin of 50467 votes.
Darshan is also quite active in films and is looking forward to his upcoming film Kaatera directed by Tarun Sudhir. The cast of Kaatera includes actors like Jagapathi Babu, Radhana Ram, and Kumar Govind. Rockline Entertainment has produced this film and is currently in the production process. This film is billed to be a real-life story based on a village and is expected to hit the big screens next year. The producer of this film, Rockline Venkatesh told News 18 that Darshan’s role in Kaatera is going to be completely different from the films he has acted till date.
