Karen Pittman’s Character Nya Wallace joined And Just Like That… as a recurring character in Season 1 and was promoted to a series regular in Season 2.
Karen Pittman, known for her role as Nya Wallace in the first two seasons of the Sex and the City sequel, And Just Like That…, will not be returning for the upcoming third season of the popular Max series. Pittman, who was already a series regular on Apple TV+’s The Morning Show, joined And Just Like That… as a recurring character in Season 1 and was promoted to a series regular in Season 2. However, due to scheduling conflicts involving her commitments to The Morning Show and Netflix’s upcoming drama series Forever, she had to exit the show.
Sources indicate that Pittman’s character, Nya Wallace, was initially planned to be a part of Season 3 of And Just Like That…, and scripts were written with her character in mind. However, after exploring various options to accommodate her busy schedule, it became clear that filming three shows simultaneously was not feasible, reports Deadline.
Production for And Just Like That… Season 3 is set to begin in May. A spokesperson for Max expressed their disappointment in having to part ways with Pittman’s character, saying, “It has been a joy to have Karen Pittman play the smart and stunning Professor Nya Wallace on the first two seasons of And Just Like That… As we have thoroughly enjoyed working with this dynamic actress, so too have others. Due to her commitments to two other streamer series, it has become apparent that filming three shows at once isn’t possible.”
“Due to the production realities, we are disappointed to announce that scheduling conflicts will not allow us to continue with this character as part of season 3 of And Just Like That… Karen and Nya will be missed, and her Max family and fans will all be cheering her on in her other endeavours,” the spokesperson added, reports Deadline.
Pittman’s character Nya Wallace made her debut in “And Just Like That…” as one of the new friends to the core trio of characters—Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), and Charlotte (Kristin Davis). Nya was portrayed as a professional, intelligent, and brave woman who was unapologetically herself. She was also depicted as a loyal friend, particularly to Miranda, offering her support during her separation and divorce from Steve (David Eigenberg) and on her journey of self-discovery.
Nya’s storyline was starting to gain momentum, especially with her new relationship with Chef Toussaint (Gary Jourdan) following her divorce. Nya was also a significant source of support for Miranda, serving as her cheerleader and confidant. While it remains uncertain if Nya will return as a guest star in the future, fans of the show can only hope for a reunion.
