Janhvi Kapoor Wanted to ‘Give Up’ Acting for Khushi, Recalls ‘What’s the Point of…’ | Exclusive

Khushi Kapoor is all set to make her acting debut with The Archies alongside Suhana Khan and Agastya Nanda.

Janhvi Kapoor reveals Khushi Kapoor is a no-nonsense person. She also wishes she could become her younger sister’s ‘momager’.

All eyes are set on The Archies, which is slated for December 7 release on Netflix! The Zoya Akhtar directorial will be launching star kids like Khushi Kapoor, Suhana Khan and Agastya Nanda. Needless to say, expectations are sky high from the trio. While Khushi will be seen playing Betty Cooper in the film, Suhana will essay the part of Veronica Lodge with Agastya as Archie Andrews.

Unlike Suhana and Agastya, who are the first actors from their generation in their families to start their film journeys, Khushi already has her elder sister, Janhvi Kapoor, working in the movies. In fact, in an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha a while back, Jahnvi had revealed that Khushi’s level-headed disposition has already had her prepared for the predictable nature of showbiz.

She told us, “Khushi is too straight-forward. She has no time for bullsh*t.” Speaking about how her younger sister reacts to her films, Janhvi said, “She watches my films and either says ‘very good’ or goes like ‘meh’. She doesn’t indulge in what could’ve happened. She just tells me to go to sleep and not fish for compliments too much. The most she will say is that it could have been better and so, I should work harder the next. She’s very to the point.”

Janhvi also opened up on Khushi’s first day of shoot for The Archies. The Bawaal and Good Luck Jerry actor stated that not being able to accompany her to the set broke her heart and even made her rethink her career. “It was the first time when I felt like I should just give up acting and maybe, I should just become like one of those on-set moms, who say, ‘Baby ke liye juice laao’, like a proper momager (laughs). What’s the point of any of it if I’m not able to be there for my family? But I’m doing it for. Hopefully, it will all be worth it,” she said.

With four members in her immediate family working in showbiz, Janhvi shared that honesty and earnest feedback is numero uno for them. Talking about her father, producer Boney Kapoor, she remarked, “He’s very honest with me. His main problem with me is… he thinks I’m under-confident. But I beg to differ; I’m a realist. He thinks that I undermine myself too much.”

She further continued, “But I know what I’ve going for me, what I need to work on and how the world perceives me. He’s constantly trying to make sure or remind me that I’m good. And I’m constantly trying to tell him that I need to be better. That’s the continuous tussle that we have.”

With her father having already made his acting debut with Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar and Khushi now gearing up for the release of her first ever acting project, Janhvi shared that conversations at the dinner table are often about work and added, “Yeah, but the discussion mostly is now about dates in terms of ‘Oh, where am I on this day? Okay, so, you are there. Maybe we will get two days in between to spend time together.’ It’s mostly about dates and schedules (laughs).”
