Gadar 2 opens to a whopping Rs40 crore nett, OMG 2 bags a decent Rs9.25 crore nett – Beyond Bollywood

As expected, the much wider release Gadar 2 takes a strong opening. OMG 2 likely to grow through word of mouth.

Gadar -Ek Prem Katha is often counted as the biggest blockbuster of the millennium.  22 years later, the sequel is off to a blockbuster start by bagging a whopping Rs40 crore nett on day one at domestic box office, as shared by trade sources.

Produced by Zee Studios, Gadar 2 [2023] is made at an estimated budget of Rs90 crore. It has released across 4000 screens in India. A strong opening augurs well for the opening weekend. This despite not such positive reviews.  Like Pathaan, Adipurush and Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani, Gadar 2, too, has reportedly booked some corporate bookings.  Nevertheless, Gadar 2 looks good to touch the Rs100 crore nett mark in three or five days. It arguably marks the highest opening for any Sunny Deol film.

Meanwhile, the Pankaj Tripathi, Akshay Kumar-starrer OMG 2 [2023] has bagged a decent Rs9.25 crore nett on its day one.   Distributed by Viacom18 Studios, OMG 2 is made at an estimated budget of Rs150 crore and it has released across 1500 screens. Unlike Gadar 2, the reviews have largely been flattering for OMG 2.  For its limited screens, the opening day business isn’t bad, but if the budget is what its buzzed to be, then OMG 2 will need to pump in more numbers to stand a chance at the box office.
