There is potentially more trouble incoming for actor Darshan Jariwala in his personal feud with a Kolkata-based scribe. After accusing him of rape, the victim has prayed for additional charges to be included in the matter.

Speaking exclusively to Beyond Bollywood, Subhalaxmi Sen, the victim’s lawyer, stated, “Based on the interaction, my client has pressed additional charges under Section 503 (criminal intimidation), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), and 500 (defamation) of the IPC.”

The victim had already filed an FIR under Section 376 (rape), 377 (carnal intercourse) and 417 (cheating) of IPC. The Kolkata police is currently investigating the matter and is expected to file a chargesheet soon. The victim’s lawyer revealed that once the court proceedings begin, her client will seek to add more supplementary charges in the matter.

Meanwhile, Jariwala not being arrested yet is making the victim and her lawyer suspicious.

“Obviously, I wouldn’t like to comment on the police investigation as a chargesheet is yet to be filed. However, Section 376 is a non-bailable offence. An accused out in the open can potentially tamper with the evidence. (Ideally) He should be in police custody till the investigation is over,” said Sen.

Jariwala has largely been elusive since this controversy broke put. Earlier, the Bad Boy [2023] actor had refuted all allegations with his lawyer stating that her client was medically unfit to become a father. However, the victim had countered the claim saying that she has evidence, and also stressed that incapable of becoming a father doesn’t mean he is incapable of commiting rape.

Meanwhile, despite threatening defamation, the victim hasn’t received any such notice from the actor.

Expressing surprise at Jariwala’s talk of defamation, the victim said, “In any way, a rape accused can’t file defamation against a rape victim, let aside revealing her identity, which is punishable under law.

Jariwala (65) is a seasoned actor in Hindi and Gujarati cinema. Following the allegations, the actor was asked to resign from all his positions at CINTAA [Cine & TV Artistes Association], and CAWT [Cine Artistes Welfare Trust). He, however, continues to remain a member.
