Ranbir Kapoor plays the role of Arjun Singh with Anil Kapoor portraying the on-screen father, Balbir Singh.

Ranbir Kapoor and Bobby Deol’s crime drama has been released in theaters today. The film also stars Anil Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna in pivotal roles. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film explores a toxic father-son relationship, with Anil as the emotionally distant father and Ranbir as the traumatized, angry son. During a film’s promotional event, Ranbir expressed his gratitude towards veteran actor Anil Kapoor for portraying his on-screen father in the film. The actor also revealed that the experience brought back cherished memories of his late father, Rishi Kapoor.

Ranbir said, “I see a lot of my father in him because they come from similar generations, they have similar thinking patterns. While performing with him, there were a lot of sweet memories that I could recall. It was amazing to play a son to Anil Kapoor who doesn’t look like my father but my younger brother.”

The actor further revealed that his bond with Rishi Kapoor was a blend of love, respect, and a touch of apprehension. “The relationship that I shared with my father, like most of the father-son relationships in India…There’s a bit of distance, a bit of fear but there’s also love and respect,” he added.

Earlier, Anil Kapoor in a chat with Connect FM Canada revealed, “I have a certain instinct for faces and actors. I’m very proud of that. I watched Saawariya and I just said ‘In the Kapoor family, there is a tall Raj Kapoor.”

Anil Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor play father and son in the film Animal, with Ranbir describing their relationship as an ‘A-rated’ version of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Ranbir Kapoor assumes the role of Arjun Singh, with Anil Kapoor portraying Balbir Singh. Bobby Deol plays the antagonist, and Rashmika Mandanna takes on the character of Geetanjali, the wife of Ranbir Kapoor’s character. The film marks the second Bollywood directorial venture of Sandeep Reddy Vanga after Kabir Singh with Shahid Kapoor and his first collaboration with Ranbir Kapoor. The film is produced by T-Series, Cine1 Studios, and Bhadrakali Pictures.

Apart from Animal, Ranbir made a cameo appearance in the TV series Stardom, featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Bobby Deol. The actor is also set to grace the screen in Nitesh Tiwari and Ravi Udyawar’s drama film Ramayana.
