Their connection is “simply through the roof,” says director Paul Feig, who is also known for the A Simple Favor films. As quoted by People, he said, “They are both such powerful talents and work so well off each other that you very quickly get sucked into their onscreen world.” (Image: Instagram)

In the film, Sweeney plays Millie, a young woman desperate to leave her troubled past behind and start fresh. (Image: Instagram)

She takes a job as a live-in housemaid for the wealthy and seemingly perfect Winchesters, Nina and Andrew, played by Seyfried and It Ends With Us star Brandon Sklenar respectively. (Image: Instagram)

But her new position quickly leads to something much darker, with a logline teasing a “seductive game of secrets, scandal and power” behind the doors. (Image: Instagram)

Alongside the three, the film also features Michele Morrone as the groundskeeper Enzo and Elizabeth Perkins as Andrew’s demanding mother. (Image: Instagram)

Written by Rebecca Sonnenshine, Feig called the adaptation a “faithful interpretation” of Freida McFadden’s book, “but with a good number of added surprises along the way. And no, I’m not teasing any of the surprises. They must be seen to be believed.” (Image: Instagram)

The Housemaid is set to hit the theatres on December 19, 2025. (Image: Instagram)
