Emily In Paris Season 5: This Long-Time Character Leaves Show Ahead Of Filming

Emily in Paris is saying au revoir to one of its original cast members. Camille Razat, who has played Camille since the very first season, will not be returning for Season 5 of the Netflix series. Razat’s character has been a central part of the storyline due to her complicated friendship with Emily (Lily Collins) and her romantic ups and downs with Gabriel (Lucas Bravo). But her exit doesn’t come as a shock. In Season 4, Camille packed her bags and left after faking a pregnancy in a last attempt to win Gabriel back.
Netflix confirmed the change in a Tudum cast announcement on Thursday. The upcoming season will begin production in May starting in Rome before moving back to Paris.
The confirmed returning cast includes Lily Collins as Emily Cooper, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu as Sylvie, Ashley Park as Mindy, Lucas Bravo as Gabriel, Samuel Arnold as Julien, Bruno Gouery as Luc, William Abadie as Antoine and Thalia Besson as Genevieve. Lucien Laviscount will also return as Alfie, Emily’s ex-boyfriend.
It is unclear whether Alfie will return for work, romance or both. The last time we saw him, he had moved on from Emily and was dating someone new. But given the show’s track record of on-again, off-again relationships, it is possible his story with Emily could still take unexpected turns.
Bravo’s return came after some uncertainty. In October, the actor publicly admitted that he wasn’t sure about continuing. He shared that he felt “frustrated” and that playing Gabriel was “not fun anymore” as the character was “being slowly turned into guacamole.”
Marcello, played by Eugenio Franceschini, is also returning for Season 5. He was introduced in the second half of Season 4 as Emily’s new romantic interest.
Speaking to Tudum, Lily Collins hinted that Marcello arrives at the right moment in Emily’s life. She said the character brings a chance for Emily to focus on work-life balance. “Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work/life balance. We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time,” she said.
Show creator Darren Star confirmed to Tudum that Emily’s relationship with Marcello will be explored further in Season 5. “I feel like they have a real spark and a real connection and a real romantic connection. A lot of that’s going to continue to play out next season,” he said.
Season 4 ended with major changes for the main characters. Emily was tasked with opening a Roman branch of Agence Grateau. Emily in Paris Season 5 is expected to premiere this year.
