On his 60th birthday, Aamir Khan had surprised fans by revealing his relationship with Gauri Spratt. Since then, many have been wondering if the actor plans to marry again.

The superstar, who will next be seen in Sitaare Zameen Par, opened up about his past marriages during a chat with Zoom. Reflecting on his journey, he joked –
“I haven’t been successful in marriage, but I’ve been successful in divorce.”

Aamir shared that, much like his first marriage to Reena Dutta, he had to come to terms with the fact that his relationship with Kiran Rao could no longer continue as a marriage. He admitted the decision was incredibly difficult and painful for everyone involved, including both their families.
While it wasn’t a situation anyone wanted, Aamir said certain circumstances made them realise that their bond had changed over time.

He added that he and Kiran could have chosen to stay together just for appearances, but that didn’t feel right.
“Personally, we could have done whatever we wanted but stayed married for the world. But that would be a lie. And it would be unfair for the institution of marriage because then you would be devaluing marriage. That wasn’t acceptable to me and Kiran,” he explained.
Aamir said their separation wasn’t driven by conflict or bitterness. Instead, it was a respectful, mutual decision, rooted in honesty.
