Surbhi Jyoti On Why She And Husband Sumit Suri Have Separate Rooms: ‘It’s Rare, But…’

Qubool Hai actress Surbhi Jyoti shared that she and her husband Sumit Suri have separate rooms, describing it as a mutual decision.

Television actress Surbhi Jyoti, who tied the knot with Sumit Suri last year, recently opened up about their relationship, and called him her ‘favourite person’. She said that they share a strong bond, emphasizing how their thoughts align and they are on the same page about most things. She also opened up about her and Sumit having separate rooms in their house. She said that while it is unconventional and rare, the arrangement works for them. It gives them personal space, while still allowing them to share quality time together.
While speaking with Pinkvilla, Surbhi Jyoti said, “Soch milna, thoughts milna, bohot zaroori hai. He (Sumit Suri) also works from home. I am also home when I’m not shooting. We are not desperate to go out. We are just very happy. In our house, we have our separate rooms. That is also out of choice because he lived on his own alone for most of his life. Same with me. It’s a mutual decision. It’s rare, but hota hai bohot, maine suna hai.”
She further added, “And we have also decided that we really want our own rooms- my own cupboard, my own bathroom, my own wardrobe and my space. That’s how sometimes we do. He is in his room, I am in my room. But still we are together. We watch something together. So, this happened because our thoughts were very similar. We were on the same page.”
She said that is not the only way a couple can give each other space. However, that’s how they have chosen to do it. “But yeah, that’s how we are doing it, and we are happy. He’s like, ‘When I shower, the bathroom should be dry.’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, me too—I also want it dry when I shower.’ So then, who showers first? So we just decided to have our own respective bathrooms and rooms. That’s the settlement for us,” she said.
Surbhi Jyoti and Sumit Suri tied the knot in a beautiful wedding ceremony in Jim Corbett, on October 27, 2024. Their friends from the industry including Asha Negi, Rithvikk Dhanjani, Kishwer Merchantt, Suyash Rai, Chirag Paswan and Vishal Singh were also present.
