In a candid chat with Instant Bollywood, the actor said that Stree was actually his idea for the film’s title. He also opened up about his long-standing association with producer Dinesh Vijan, starting from their first project Raabta, to the hit film Stree, and now their latest collaboration, the upcoming Bhool Chuk Maaf produced under Maddock Films.

It all started when Rajkummar met Dinesh for the film Raabta. It wasn’t a major role, in fact, it was a tiny guest appearance that required heavy prosthetics. But even though the part was small, Rajkummar agreed to do it.

“Dinesh said please just do it; like you’re making a guest appearance. There was a lot of prosthetics involved, and it was really interesting. I said, ‘Sure, why not?’. You couldn’t recognize me because I had so much prosthetics on; my whole face looked different.”

While the role may have been short, it clearly left a mark on Dinesh Vijan. That memory played a role in the next major step in their professional journey together, Stree.

“When they were planning Stree, I met Raj DK. They gave me the script, and I read it and loved it. I even gave the title Stree, which was called something else before.”

The team then brought the idea to Dinesh Vijan, who came on board as a producer. Rajkummar shared how Dinesh immediately connected the dots and remembered their earlier collaboration.

“Dinesh remembered that we did Raabta together. Somewhere in his mind, it felt like I did something for him back then.”

From that point on, Rajkummar and Dinesh formed a strong bond, both personally and professionally. They’ve now done multiple films together, and the actor clearly holds Dinesh in high regard.

“So, that’s how everything happened. That’s how our friendship started, and then we ended up doing, I think, four or five films together. It’s been a long association, and I really cherish our friendship. I think he’s genuinely a visionary guy. He’s awesome in the way he puts faith behind his films; his stories are really inspiring.”
