The recent mahurat shot only fueled the anticipation further. However, in an unexpected twist, one of the film’s leading stars, Paresh Rawal, has reportedly exited the project.

A source said, “There were creative differences between the makers and Paresh Rawal. As a result, the actor decided to step down from the film.”

In the Hera Pheri franchise, Paresh Rawal brought to life the iconic character of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte—a role that has garnered an enormous fan following and played a key part in the series achieving cult status. Baburao’s unforgettable antics and the endless stream of memes and GIFs based on him continue to thrive online. This surprising turn of events is bound to leave millions of fans disappointed, as they had eagerly awaited Baburao’s return alongside his chaotic companions, Raju (Akshay Kumar) and Shyam (Suniel Shetty).

Paresh Rawal has confirmed that he’s no longer acting in Hera Pheri 3. He said, “Yes, it’s a fact.”

Industry insiders remain hopeful that a last-minute change of heart might bring the actor back to the franchise—especially considering the rollercoaster of developments surrounding Hera Pheri 3. As one industry expert pointed out, “Back in 2022, even Akshay Kumar had stepped away from the project. Since he’s considered the heart of the series, his exit left fans disheartened. But thankfully, he made a comeback. Going by that precedent, there’s still hope that Mr. Rawal might return as well.”

The franchise kicked off with Hera Pheri in 2000, which performed moderately at the box office but went on to become a cult classic through repeated TV airings. Its sequel, Phir Hera Pheri (2006), capitalized on the growing fan base, opening to packed theatres and becoming a super-hit. Over the years, both films gained renewed fame on social media, thanks to their iconic humour—further intensifying anticipation for the third installment.
