Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane recently made headlines in India after her derogatory remarks regarding the Indian army’s Operation Sindoor. She was criticized by Indian netizens, after which the lead actor of Sanam Teri Kasam, Harshvardhan Rane, took to social media to respond to the actress. He also clarified that he would not work in the sequel, Sanam Teri Kasam, if Mawra was part of it. Following this, the makers of Sanam Teri Kasam have officially removed her from the film.

“Terrorism of any kind, against any nation, state, or people, must be condemned unequivocally. What’s even more disheartening in this case is the silence, or worse, the statements of certain actors who have worked in India, received immense love, respect, and opportunity, yet failed to condemn such acts of terror against India. In fact, some have even criticized India’s legitimate steps to fight terrorism. In light of this, we stand by our government and fully support its decision. Nation first and always. Jai Hind,” stated the makers in a statement.

Earlier, Harshvardhan wrote on his Instagram story, “While I am grateful for the experience, as things stand, and after reading the direct comments made about my country, I have made a decision to respectfully decline to be a part of Sanam Teri Kasam part 2 if there is any possibility of the previous cast being repeated.”

Mawra Hocane had called Operation Sindoor a cowardly act by India but did not mention the Pahalgam attacks, in which 26 innocent Indians lost their lives. “I strongly condemn India’s cowardly attack on Pakistan. Innocent civilians have lost their lives. May Allah protect us all. May sense prevail,” she wrote on her Instagram handle, after which the backlash began.
