Steven Spielberg, Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt and America Ferrera are among the fresh lot of celebrities to join the list of presenters for the 96th Oscars.
The 96th Academy Awards, scheduled for this Sunday, promises to be a star-studded event. Recently, the organising team unveiled a third roster of presenters for the ceremony, featuring several well-known personalities. In the lead-up to the event, the Academy has been gradually revealing a lineup of presenters, comprising both past Oscar winners and current nominees. Among the latest additions are Ryan Gosling and America Ferrera, both nominated in supporting acting categories for Barbie, alongside Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, who will co-star in the upcoming film, Wicked. They will be joined by esteemed figures such as Emily Blunt, Sally Field, Ben Kingsley, Melissa McCarthy, Issa Rae, Tim Robbins, Steven Spielberg, Mary Steenburgen, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlize Theron, Christoph Waltz, and Forest Whitaker. With these renowned presenters onboard, the ceremony is poised to be nothing less than glitz and glam.
The Oscars is set to bring back a beloved format this year, aiming to make the night even more memorable. According to The Hollywood Reporter, they’re reintroducing the Field of Dreams format for the acting categories, which was tried 15 years ago. In this format, five past winners of a specific category will present the five nominees. While the Academy keeps presenter details under wraps, it is expected that last year’s acting winners, Brendan Fraser, Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan and Jamie Lee Curtis, who are already on the list, might be presenting the awards.
The 96th Oscars, which is set to be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel for the fourth time, have already etched their place in history by featuring three films directed by women among the 10 nominees for the Best Picture category, which includes, Celine Song directed Past Lives, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie and Anatomy of a Fall, helmed by Justine Triet. In an intriguing twist, Ryan Gosling, nominated in the supporting actor category, will not only present an award but is also set to entertain the audience with his performance. The talented actor has finally agreed to perform I’m Just Ke from the Barbie movie, alongside the song’s co-writer, Mark Ronson.
Meanwhile, during the Barbie vs Oppenheimer release, Greta Gerwig’s film shattered major box office records but Christopher Nolan’s movie is ruling the award season. At this year’s Academy, Oppenheimer received the highest, 13 nominations. Followed by Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things with 11 nominations, Martin Scorsese’s directorial Killers of the Flower Moon with 10 and Greta Gerwig’s movie Barbie received eight nominations.
