‘One Teaser And You…’: Pankaj Kapur Lashes Out At Those Calling ‘Bheed’ Anti-India Film!

Bollywood actor Pankaj Kapur is grabbing the headlines these days due to his upcoming film Bheed. The trailer of the movie has released recently and it talks about the problems faced by ordinary men during the nationwide lockdown that happened at the time of Corona epidemic.

Though the film seems to be a logical take on the situation, a certain section of audience seems to differ in opinion. Now, Kapur has broken the silence on the ongoing negative reaction regarding the film.

Pankaj Kapur on Bheed controversy

Speaking to The Indian Express, Pankaj Kapur said, “You must realize that in our society, which you will see in our film as well, before there is even a drop of rain, people will announce monsoon. We are highly impatient and are opinionated. Instead of being patient and saying, ‘Okay, take a look at what’s happening,’ we jump to conclusions. You can give your opinions, but first watch the film.”

Pankaj compared the situation of these days to the 80s. He stated, “At that time, before the child was born, parents used to fight whether the child would become a doctor or an engineer. People start giving their opinions nowadays without knowing the matter completely.”

Furthermore, Kapur said, “It’s a short teaser… and you start tagging it as a political film. It’s an analytical film that talks about the mindset of our society, how we think. Very few films have shown officers in a positive light.

When informed that a section of people feel Bheed tries to show power in a negative light and hence called it anti-national, Pankaj Kapur replied, “Those people do not knowwhat they are talking about. They should watch the film first to understand what it is talking about. Experience has struck a fine balance. They have chosen an example and built a story around it. This is not about showing anyone good or bad. It just goes to show you that this is how our brains work.”

Bheed controversy

The teaser of Bheed depicts the horrors of grim scene from 1947 when partition happened alongwith heart-wrenching images of the lockdown of 2020 with a powerful voiceover. A section of people on the internet believe that the movie has deliberately compared the lockdown to partition to create an ideology.

The film stars Pankaj Kapur, Rajkumar Rao, Bhumi Pednekar, Dia Mirza, Ashutosh Rana and Kritika Kamra among others. It will be released on 24 March.
