“Never Went To Filmy Parties,” Sooraj Pancholi On Having Only A Few Industry Friends!
EXCLUSIVE: “Never Went To Filmy Parties,” Sooraj Pancholi On Having Only A FEW Industry Friends!
Sooraj Pancholi might be from a film family, but his journey in the industry has been far from the typical Bollywood story. In an exclusive chat with Instant Bollywood, the actor opened up about how his childhood was very different from what people expect when they hear “star kid.”
Though many assume star kids grow up attending parties, walking red carpets, and making industry connections early, Sooraj shared that this wasn’t the case for him at all.
“Yes, very few (filmi connections) actually. Only Salman sir, to be honest, and a couple of childhood friends from the film industry, because of Mom and Dad. Tiger Shroff is a childhood friend. There’s also Rinzing Denzongpa (Danny Denzongpa’s son), and then Jeeva (Ranjeet’s son) and Kishu (Tiger’s sister Krishna). Just these people. Nobody else,” Sooraj said when asked about his friends in the industry.

Sooraj explained that the reason he didn’t build many industry connections is quite simple. He and his sister weren’t taken to film sets, award shows, or filmy parties growing up. Their parents, actors Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, made sure they had a more grounded childhood.

EXCLUSIVE: “Never Went To Filmy Parties,” Sooraj Pancholi On Having Only A FEW Industry Friends!
“It’s because me and my sister never went to film sets, never went to filmy parties, never went to award shows, and never had filmy parties at home. Mom and Dad never took us to those things. I think that’s a good thing, kind of a blessing in disguise,” he shared.
Sooraj believes this distance from the Bollywood bubble has actually helped him stay more connected to the real world. While some may think being around the industry all the time is helpful, he feels it can also be limiting.
“I don’t really want to live such a filmi life. I feel like if you’re in that bubble, you don’t see the outside world. You can’t really connect with everyone,” he added.
Despite being close to a few childhood friends like Tiger Shroff and Rinzing Denzongpa, Sooraj has mostly stayed away from the glam and glitter of the industry’s social circles. His approach seems to be all about keeping things real.
