Kaagaz 2 cast discusses the relevance of its movie’s story in real life with Dr. Deepak Namjoshi
Kaagaz 2 marks the final film of Satish Kaushik, hitting theaters on March 1st, 2024. It is reported to be based on real-life incidents and features Anupam Kher, Satish Kaushik, Darshan Kumaar, Neena Gupta, and Smriti Kalra in significant roles. The film revolves around the fight of a common man for the right to life, the right to free movement, and the right to personal liberty.
In a discussion with Dr. Deepak Namjoshi, a renowned critical case specialist doctor, Anupam Kher asked, “Our film deals with a rally, where a father is taking his daughter to the ambulance because she is injured, and due to the rally, the ambulance is unable to move. Has something like this ever happened in your hospital?”
Dr. Namjoshi responded, “Yes, statistics show that around 24,000 patients do not reach on time for medical aid because of traffic or inadequately equipped ambulances. Eighteen years ago, there was a situation where, at my hospital near Shopper’s Stop in Andheri, a patient boarded dead because a festival procession was blocking the way. They initially planned to go to another hospital but eventually brought the patient to ours, though it was too late. It is estimated that 24,000 people a day either due to traffic or inadequately equipped ambulances. So, even if we consider 10,000 out of 24,000 due to traffic, still, many lakhs of people are dying annually due to traffic conditions, especially in non-metro areas where hospitals are far away and access is limited.”
In conclusion to the discussion, Dr. Namjoshi stated, “So, gradually, as your film highlights its importance, there is a need to create self-realization among people. The power you possess in influencing society is immense. As doctors, we often struggle to be heard, but someone like Anupam Kher can reach out to people effectively, educate them, and make them sensitive to what is happening.”
