Overall, ‘Jogira Sara Ra Ra’ doesn’t offer great novelty to its audience but manages to keep you entertained with quite a few moments of unadulterated fun.

In fact, the film, written by Ghalib Asad Bhopali, depends a lot on one-liners, punchlines and local flavour in the dialogues. In spite of some predictable jokes and dragging in parts, the story has its own charm. This will do for now till a comedy with a better script comes along.

Kushan Nandy’s Jogira Sa Ra Ra is a romantic comedy that’s well aware of the fact that it’s using fairly old templates from Bollywood. The charming rogue helping the damsel escape a wedding she’s being forced into? That’s equal parts Socha Na Tha and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (which in turn was one of the ‘children of DDLJ’) The charming rogue also being a wedding planner and all-round procure-it-all. I say give more comedic roles to Nawaz, but hopefully roles backed up by far stronger screenplays than the one Jogira Sa Ra Ra ended up with.

Directed by Kushan Nandy, the movie has its moments, thanks to strong performances and good dialogues. Some noteworthy actors include Mahaakshay Chakraborty as the nerdy Lallu. You kind of feel sorry for the fellow when he gets betrayed for his earnestness. Sanjay Mishra, who never fails to leave a mark, is brilliant as Choudhary, who adds magic to whatever few lines he is given in the film. Another impressive act was Rohit Chaudhary as Manu. Jogira Sara Ra Ra is funny in parts, but overall it fails to leave a mark. Jugaadu Jogi’s magic doesn’t quite work for us.

The sworn-off marriage protagonist of Jogira Sara Ra Ra declares that he is not husband or boyfriend material, but he can be ‘timepass’. Unfortunately, Nawazuddin Siddiqui is not romcom material either. It’s nothing to do with age or appearance. It’s just that even the best actors have their limitations. Siddiqui continues to give off gangsta vibes, even after playing a wide variety of roles on screen with remarkable skill. The casting of two very unsuitable actors is the biggest shortcoming of Kushan Nandy’s Jogira Sara Ra Ra.

Jogira Sara Ra Ra, written by Ghalib Asad Arora, is a script that brings back the flavour of a comedy of error set in heartland India where two families are busy solving their own game regardless of the world that breathes around them. It is all quite enjoyable considering how the movie decides to transcend into things that will make a viewer suspend their disbelief in a time when we lost our appetite for such movies. But it is to the credit of some splendid actors that make it all work. Jogira Sara Ra Ra is a strictly average movie with some redemption that makes you want to give it a chance.

All in all, Jogira Sara Ra Ra is a surprisingly fresh film. It has family-friendly written all over it and has all the elements of a typical commercial Bollywood entertainer. It’s a one-time watch and can actually be enjoyed in a theatre without dreading the 2-hour run time. And indeed the film imparts a valuable message and one must always believe in it — finding a genuine connection and love happens in the most unexpected ways.
