Jaideep Ahlawat shared his experience giving voice to Marvel’s iconic character Hawkeye.

Jaideep Ahlawat was recently featured in Audible’s podcast series Marvel Wastelanders: Hawkeye as the lead character.

Jaideep Ahlawat’s brilliance as an actor remains unparalleled in the current content of the entertainment industry. The actor who has impressed time and again with his acting chops in projects like Pataal Lok, An Action Hero, Jaane Jaan has joined forces with Audible Podcast to churn out Marvel Wastelanders: Hawkeye where he has lent his voice to the iconic Marvel character Hawkeye.

Speaking exclusively with Showsha News18, Jaideep Ahlawat shared his inputs and experiences about voicing an iconic character like Hawkeye,

about the future of audio storytelling and more.

Here are the excerpts:

What attracted you to the audio series Marvel’s Wastelanders: Hawkeye?

I think the imaginary world. I had never done that before. So for me, this was something new, something challenging and something to explore within an actor which is very different from the audio visual medium of film-making. It’s just audio and you create that world.

Lending your voice to a globally loved Marvel character like Hawkeye, how did that make you feel? And what usp did you bring to it with your voice?

Yeah definitely. Hawkeye is one of the most loved characters in the Marvel universe. And I loved doing it. It is a good feeling that you are lending your voice to a character like that. And I think I tried to make it as believable as possible with just my voice and by syncing myself to the story of that world as to what they are.

Would you consider yourself a Marvel fan? Also, considering that acting in an audio format requires more effort since an actor doesn’t have the usual devices like facial expressions at their disposal, how did you navigate this space?

Well I don’t consider myself a fan but yeah I love to watch sometimes. For sure, it’s a very difficult job to create a world with just your voice. Unlike films or any other audio visual mediums, you have references, you have things that support you. But here you are creating a world with your voice which is very difficult but very enjoyable.

Do you feel the Indian audience are still to acquire the taste of audio storytelling? Especially when there is an ample amount of visual content at their disposal on OTT?

The audience worldwide still talks about the taste of audio storytelling. I am sure India has a very big market for that since we have an audience that is still connected to audio visual mediums. So audio story telling is something new that will eventually find it’s audience and people would love it.

A lot of people have been waiting for Pataal Lok Season 2. What’s the update on that? And what other exciting projects you’ll be part of in the coming times?

Everybody is waiting for Pataal Lok. Even me. It will be there and whenever it comes, you all would get to know
