Ayushmann Khurrana and filmmaker Sriram Raghavan came together for a chat session at the FICCI 2026 event in Mumbai, where their much-loved collaboration Andhadhun naturally became a talking point. Towards the end of the discussion, Ayushmann put Raghavan on the spot and asked him, “When are you making Andhadhun 2?”

Raghavan responded with a smile, “Hopefully, when we get the right story which doesn’t screw up the first film.” His answer made it clear that while the possibility of a sequel has not been ruled out, the filmmaker does not want to return simply because the first film was successful.

Released in 2018, Andhadhunstarred Ayushmann Khurrana, Tabu and Radhika Apte in a dark thriller that combined suspense, black comedy and several unexpected twists. The film received strong appreciation from both critics and audiences and went on to become a profitable theatrical success. It eventually collected around ₹73 crore nett in India, and was declared as a box office hit.

The film also had a strong awards run. Andhadhun won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi, while Ayushmann shared the Best Actor honour at the National Film Awards. Raghavan and his writing team also won the National Award for Best Screenplay (Adapted).

The film’s success extended beyond India as well, particularly in China, where it became a major commercial success, taking the worldwide gross to Rs. 430 crore.

With both Ayushmann and Raghavan now openly discussing Andhadhun 2, the sequel remains a possibility, but the director’s latest comment suggests that the story will ultimately decide its fate. Let us know your thoughts about Andhadhun 2, should it be made or not?
