Emraan Hashmi returns as Shivam Pandit, and what a return it is… He is the SOUL of Awarapan2… Mass-appealing moments + tremendous nostalgia value… SURE-SHOT SUCCESS. The music of Awarapan2 is a definite plus, although comparisons with the first part are inevitable. Final word? An outstanding Emraan Hashmi performance and an out-and-out massy narrative make Awarapan2 stand out.

Vishesh Bhatt has written a story which is fast-paced but which lacks novelty. The screenplay, written by Bilal Siddiqi and Nitin Kakkar, is also not too novel, but its plus point is that it is so fast-moving that it does not give any time to the viewers to thinkOn the whole, Awarapan 2 is a fair entertainer and it will do well at the box-office. Its music and the bountiful Independence Day weekend will give a boost to its collections.

Shriya Saran’s Aaliyah may be dead, but her presence is felt through her absence in several scenes of Awarapan 2. The awarapan of Emraan Hashmi’s Shivam Pandit could very well continue as a franchise; we are left with an open ending in Awarapan 2. But do we really need it?

Hashmi keeps it all humming, and till Awarapan sails along coasting on some eye-catching, snazzy sequences, we enjoy this outing with our brave anti-hero, jiska dard se puraana rishta hai. Overall, Awarapan 2 is a film from another time, and that is both its biggest strength and weakness. It brings back the brooding hero, tragic romance, liberal use of firearms and, most importantly, the music that made the original such a favorite. It doesn’t always keep its pace in check. Awarapan 2 offers a generous dose of nostalgia without completely sacrificing the spectacle of a modern day sequel. It may not be a flawless comeback, but judging by the packed theatres, Shivam’s story still has plenty of life left in it.

Besides him, no actor has a solid graph. Disha Patani gets some dialogues closer to the interval. Emraan and Disha’s chemistry is more awkward than passionate.Awarapan 2 sticks to the books. It is safe, but engaging. The shock value of the prequel is missing. The music of mediocre.
