Anushka Sharma is among the top actresses in Bollywood, and she is married to Virat Kohli, who is among the top cricketers in the world. The power couple has amassed immense fame and money via their respective careers. However, Anushka believes that fame and money cannot make a person happy, as desire is the cause of all suffering.
Anushka Sharma once said, “Jim Carrey said a very nice thing. I might not quote him correctly, but he said that I want everyone in this world to experience fame and money, to know that that is not what life is about. So, I am a very true believer of that.”
She added, “I can tell you 100 per cent that life is not about that. I know a lot of people might read this and comment, ‘Bada bol rahi hai, hai toh toh bol rahi hai.’ Fair enough. You’re right, hai toh bol rahi hai. Jab tak you don’t stand in those shoes, you will not be able to tell. I have stood in both, so I can say that it is not what life is about.”
Anushka mentioned, “Desires are actually what make you miserable in life. You know, so that’s what I try to cut out from my life. I feel like I’m just… at that time, I didn’t know that because I was much younger. Now I know it, so I’m much happier.”
The actress’s video has resurfaced on Reddit, and as she predicted, netizens have responded by dropping similar comments. One person wrote, “Fame part I agree, but money? 75% of my problems will be solved with money. The rest can also be solved with money with a proper shrink.” They added, ” If I don’t have to worry about how I am going to pay the EMIs, family debt, take care of family and myself… I am sure half of my mental health and physical health issues will be solved there.”
One comment read, “Any person who has to worry about money, no matter how financially comfortable they are, will never go around telling people that money doesn’t matter.” Someone mentioned, “Her comment reads as tone-deaf because she can make crores out of an Instagram post in 5 minutes, while people struggle to pay rent.”
However, some also defended Anushka. One comment read, “What Anushka or Jim Carrey said is not entirely wrong. Money is a necessity, and it makes your life a lot…A LOT comfortable but not necessarily happy. You are equating a comfortable life with a happy life.” Someone else wrote, “Money is absolutely essential, but beyond a certain point, the marginal utility is limited. I think that’s what she is saying.” One person wrote, “The person is literally saying that after you reach a certain point of comfortable wealth or fame, you might experience that life is not just about money and fame.”
Meanwhile, on the work front, Anushka Sharma has been away from the screens for years now. Her last appearance was a cameo in Qala. Anushka is yet to announce her upcoming projects.
