Ground Zero, starring Emraan Hashmi, was released in cinemas on April 25. The film received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike for its gripping storyline, nail-biting scenes, and impeccable performance by its cast. Now, after almost two months of its release, the action-thriller has secured its digital rights. Following a collection of Rs 8.39 crore worldwide at the box office, the Tejas Deoskar directorial is available for streaming on Prime Video from June 20 — that is, today.
Excel Entertainment, the film’s production house, dropped a bunch of snippets from the film on Instagram. Alongside it, they wrote, “Get ready to witness the story of an officer whose sacrifice goes beyond the battlefield. #GroundZeroOnPrime, Watch Now on @primevideoin.”
Announcing the same, the OTT streaming giant also dropped a post on their official Instagram handle and wrote, “Amidst the shadow of terror, one officer’s fight becomes the spark #GroundZeroOnPrime, Watch Now.”
The movie is based on the real-life challenges of combating terrorism in Kashmir. Inspired by a real-life counter-terrorism operation led by Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey, the action-thriller follows the Border Security Force (BSF) officer who is on a very important mission to wipe out the terror group Jaish-e-Mohammad. He aims to track Rana Tahir Nadeem—known as Ghazi Baba, the mastermind behind two deadly terror attacks on the Indian Parliament in 2001 and the Akshardham temple in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar in September 2002.
In the film, Emraan essays the role of a BSF Deputy Commandant who leads the high-stakes investigation. He started planning for the operation in 2001, and it was accomplished in 2003.
Set in Kashmir in the early 2000s, it promises an exciting, emotional and action-packed movie experience. Other than Emraan Hashmi, the film also boasts a star-studded ensemble of talented actors like Sai Tamhankar as Jaya Dubey, Zoya Hussain as Aadila, Deepak Paramesh as Binu Ramchandra, Mukesh Tiwari as Sanjiv Sharma, Rockey Raina as Ghazi Baba, Lalit Prabhakar as Praveen, Rahul Vohra as Dhyaan and Ekluvya as Chand Khan.
