Will Preity Zinta and Akshay Kumar’s Sangharsh get a sequel? This question has been plaguing fans’ minds since the actress’s recent AMA on X. In the 2000s, one of the names that dominated Bollywood was Preity Zinta. Often known for playing culturally defiant roles and unconventional characters, she quickly became a fan favourite. Whether it was Dil Se, Mission Kashmir, Dil Chahta Hai, Koi Mil Gaya, or Kal Ho Naa Ho, Preity left an indelible mark on the audience with every performance. Sangharsh was no different.

Recently, during an Ask Me Anything session on X (formerly Twitter), the actress reconnected with her fans, who asked her plenty of questions regarding her professional as well as personal life. One of them, who has admired Preity since her debut with Dil Se, questioned which of her films she felt deserved a sequel. Preity replied, “Maybe Sangharsh.”

Fans quickly agreed to Preity’s response. While some said that Sangharsh gave them chills, others shared that the actress deserved a few more films with Akshay Kumar. One fan said, “Totally agree with you, mam. This underrated masterpiece deserves a sequel, and we are waiting to see your reunion with Akshay sir.”

Another added, “You and Akshay deserved more movies together! Underrated pair on the silver screen.” Someone else noted, “I was a child when I first watched Sangharsh….and it felt like a horror movie when Dayashankar stops ….moves towards you, and did that tongue whistle with his finger….it was a fantastic movie, ma’am…..by the way, my love for Akki is also bcoz of his those movies.” While there are no reports of Sangharsh 2, fans are buzzing with excitement even at the suggestion.

The film revolves around a CBI officer, Reet (Zinta), who investigates a series of child murders linked to a religious fanatic seeking immortality. She takes the help of the unjustly jailed genius Aman Verma (Kumar) to take down Lajja Shankar Pandey (Rana).

Speaking of Preity Zinta’s work front, the actress took a hiatus and returned on screen only occasionally. She was last seen in the film Bhaiaji Superhit, which was released in 2018. Directed by Neerraj Pathak, the action comedy also featured Sunny Deol, Arshad Warsi, Ameesha Patel and Shreyas Talpade.

After a break of nearly seven years, Preity will once again be seen on the silver screen in the upcoming film Lahore 1947, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan. Set against the backdrop of the partition of India in 1947, the film will also star Sunny Deol, Ali Fazal and Shabana Azmi. The film not only marks Preity’s reunion with Sunny Deol but also her reunion with Aamir Khan in a creative collaboration.
