Tamil actor Arun Vijay has lodged a complaint with the Chennai Police Commissioner’s office against a popular YouTube channel. The channel has apparently spread false information about him and his family. Arun Vijay is the son of senior actor Vijayakumar. A few years ago, a popular Tamil daily published a highly obscene report on some actresses including Vijayakumar’s second wife, actress Manjula. It was heavily criticised. Vijayakumar married Muthukannu in 1969. They have three children — Kavita Vijayakumar, Anita Vijayakumar and Arun Vijay. Later, Vijayakumar had a second marriage with actress Manjula in 1976. They have three daughters — Vanitha Vijayakumar, Preetha Vijayakumar and Sridevi. Manjula passed away in 2013 after a prolonged battle with jaundice. After her death, a YouTube channel is now continuing the obscene libel reports started by that daily newspaper. A YouTube channel has published defamatory obscene comments about Vijayakumar and his late wife.
Arun Vijay has reported to the police commissioner’s office to take action against them. In his complaint, he said that the defamatory comments were not just limited to late Manjula, but his mother as well. The police are yet to take any kind of action in the case.
Meanwhile, Arun Vijay’s sister Anita Vijayakumar’s daughter Diya got married in Chennai in February. Vijayakumar’s daughters Kavita, Preetha and son Arun Vijay attended the wedding. Many celebrities including superstar Rajinikanth came and congratulated Diya. The photos and videos of this wedding event went viral on social media, which was shared by Arun Vijay himself.
Arun Vijay was last seen in the action thriller Mission: Chapter 1, directed by AL Vijay, It released on the occasion of Pongal on January 12. The film stars Arun Vijay, Amy Jackson and Nimisha Sajayan alongside Abi Hassan, Bharath Bopana and Iyal in the supporting roles. This marks Jackson’s comeback film after a five-year hiatus. The film performed moderately well at the box office and received mixed reviews.
