Suniel Shetty at Global Impact Forum II:
The first day of the Global Impact Forum Edition II Civilisational Legacy concluded with a special Gala Night celebrating the power of culture to bring people, nations and generations together. Actor Suniel Shetty was honoured with the Cultural Icon of the Year Award during the event.
The award was presented by Jahnavi Pawar, Director of AP Globale. Expressing his happiness, Suniel Shetty said, “It is a great pleasure to receive the accolade. This boosts the love and adoration that my beloved audience has had for me for such a long time. I thank AP Globale for making me a part of this insightful forum.”
Shri Ashish Shelar, Minister of Cultural Affairs, Government of Maharashtra, also praised the forum and highlighted the importance of culture in creating global connections. He said, “As the State Minister of Culture, my presence here centres on the vital intersection of culture and global connectivity. Maharashtra’s rich, multidimensional heritage must be shared with the world. To me, culture is more than tradition. It is artistic performance, creative expression, a powerful statement, and a dynamic vehicle for dialogue. While policy, investment and entrepreneurship drive formal growth, culture creates the immediate, human connection that brings people together. The Global Impact Forum has rightfully harnessed this power to bridge international divides, offering an ideal platform for youth, innovators and leaders to collaborate.”
Hosted by RJ Tarun, the Gala Night featured performances that reflected the forum’s theme of cultural exchange. The programme included a Capoeira performance, followed by Zulu and Samba acts, a live performance by Shikhar Naad Qureshi, and presentations by international cultural delegations.

The performances highlighted one of the key ideas behind GIF II—that cultural exchange becomes more meaningful when it goes beyond formal discussions and turns into a shared experience.
Speaking about the significance of the forum, Jahnavi Pawar said, “True global unity requires looking beyond economics and politics alone. By celebrating our shared civilisational legacies—from culture and arts to sports and traditional wisdom—platforms like GIF build trust, cross-border understanding, and enduring connections that transform our world.”
From discussions between India and Brazil on rhythm, dance and sports to the India-China sessions exploring martial arts, calligraphy and traditional healing practices, the first day of the forum showed how cultural identity can bring people together rather than divide them.

The Gala Night served as a fitting cultural celebration of the forum’s larger vision—that the legacy of civilisations continues to find relevance when it is shared, understood and carried forward by new generations.
