‘Superstar Banke To Dikhao’: Ameesha Patel Hits Back At Zakir Khan After ‘Dhurandhar Se Sabki Jalti Hai’ Remark
Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel, who earlier slammed comedian Zakir Khan for suggesting Bollywood is jealous of Dhurandhar’s success, has now explained her reaction. She made it clear that her response wasn’t personal as she doesn’t know him and holds no individual grudge- but she strongly disagrees with such statements. She hit back at the claim, questioning how Zakir could assume that the industry feels threatened. Instead, she said that Bollywood is actually inspired, not insecure by Dhurandhar’s success. According to her, the success of films like Dhurandhar is motivating actors and filmmakers to work harder, and raise their standards to match that level of achievement.
‘Superstar Banke To Dikhao’: Ameesha Patel Hits Back At Zakir Khan
In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Ameesha Patel said that she has no personal resentment, but believes that Zakir Khan’s statement was not justified at all. “Dekho, khade rehke achievers ke baare mein baat karna and to make them the brunt of all jokes, bohot asaan hai. Arey achiever banke to dikhao! Superstar banke to dikhao! (Look, it’s very easy to stand there and talk about achievers and make them the brunt of all jokes. Try becoming an achiever! Try becoming a superstar),” she said.
She further slammed his statement about Bollywood being threatened by the success of Ranveer Singh starrer Dhurandhar. “Statement aisa bola ki industry jal rahi hai, insecure ho rahi hai. Aapko phone karke bataya? Did someone call you and say ‘Dhurandhar hit ho gayi hai main toh bada hi insecure ho gaya. Aapko kaise pata? (A statement was made that the industry is burning with jealousy and feeling insecure. Did someone call you and tell you that? Did someone actually say, ‘Dhurandhar has become a hit and I’ve become very insecure’? How do you know?),” asked Ameesha.
Ameesha Patel Says Dhurandhar’s Success Has Inspired The Film Industry Instead
On the contrary, she said that the success of Aditya Dhar’s film has instead inspired the film industry to work harder. “On the contrary, because of Dhurandhar, so many people have said that we need to learn. People like Ram Gopal Varma and many others have said it has set a benchmark. People have posted stories and Instagram posts praising the film. Actors are reworking their films because they feel we now need to match a certain standard, and the audience is expecting better,” she said.
“Is competition bad? If we don’t praise competition, how will we improve? We don’t want to get complacent. We need someone to come in and make us pull up our socks. So how does this make us insecure? It only makes us learn. I want to know—who are those 10 people who called him and said they are jealous?” asked Ameesha.
What Zakir Khan Said About Dhurandhar’s Success
Zakir Khan hosted an award show earlier this month, and addressing the audience, he said, “Kitne hi congratulatory posts aap daal dein, kitni hi stories daal dein, kitne hi interview mein aap bol dein ‘my favourite film’, magar sach toh yeh hai ki Dhurandhar se sabki jalti toh hai (No matter how many congratulatory posts you put up, no matter how many stories you share, no matter how often you say in interviews that it’s your favourite film, the truth is, everyone is jealous of Dhurandhar).”
“Bomb film mein phootein Lyari mein, par dhuan udaa hai Bandra se Juhu mein (Bombs may have gone off in Lyari, but the smoke is rising all the way from Bandra to Juhu),” he further added.
Back then, Ameesha reacted to his comment, and wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “DUDE, Stop spreading NEGATIVITY! The film industry has valued and respected DHURANDHAR! Superstars like SRK, SALMAN, SUNNY, HRITHIK, AJAY, etc., have given not just one but 25-plus mega hits and will continue to do so CHILL, GADAR bahut saalon se sabne already machai hai, aur aage bhi machaayenge.”
