One of the early youthful comedy thrillers in Bollywood
RATING – 3/5*
Khel Khel Mein Review Movie Talkies:
Khel Khel Mein is inspired by the popular French novel Good Children Don’t Kill, which has been adapted in several film industries over the years. It stands among the early Hindi films that blended comedy and suspense into a proper commercial potboiler.
The story follows a college gang that enjoys harmless pranks but soon finds itself entangled in a murder mystery—followed by more killings. Ajay and Vikram begin on a hostile note in the very first scene but soon become best friends. They indulge in betting games, and one such prank leads them to blackmail a wealthy businessman. What starts as a joke quickly spirals into a serious crime involving blackmail and murder. Ajay and his girlfriend Nisha attempt to distance themselves from the situation and depend on Vikram for help, but another murder complicates matters further. Will these seemingly innocent souls escape this web of crime?
Namak Halaal (1982) Review: Among The Best Masala Comedies Of Bollywood

Khel Khel Mein is a proper commercial entertainer that successfully combines comedy and thriller elements—an unusual mix for its time. The music elevates the film to another level. Songs like Ek Main Aur Ek Tu, Khullam Khulla Pyaar Karenge, and Humne Tumko Dekha remain timeless hits.

Rishi Kapoor looks charming throughout, especially in the songs. For a young actor of that era, he delivers a confident performance, and his expressions during tense moments are spot-on. Neetu Singh shares lovely chemistry with him, while Rakesh Roshan was no less than a Greek God of the era. Supporting actors like Iftekhar, Preeti Ganguly, and Aruna Irani perform well in their respective roles.

Director Ravi Tandon delivers a fine entertainer with a distinctive youth appeal, even if it may not offer high repeat value. Having seen several adaptations of similar stories, there weren’t many surprises for me. However, for first-time viewers, the climax twist will come as a solid surprise.
