Karan Johar’s Legal Victory Over Carry Minati:

A Mumbai court has granted interim relief to filmmaker Karan Johar by restraining YouTuber Ajey Nagar, popularly known as Carry Minati, along with Meta Platforms and other concerned parties, from publishing or sharing any allegedly defamatory or objectionable content against him.

The order was issued on Monday, February 9, after Johar moved the court over a roast video uploaded on Carry Minati’s YouTube channel titled Coffee With Jalan. The video, said to be inspired by Johar’s talk show Koffee With Karan, allegedly featured abusive remarks and critical references to Bollywood nepotism, with specific comments directed at the filmmaker.

While hearing the matter, Judge Pandurang Bhosale noted that the content appeared defamatory at first glance and required urgent action. The court also passed John Doe orders to prevent unidentified individuals from further circulating or re-sharing the video across social media platforms.

In the ad-interim order dated February 9, Judge Bhosale observed, “Prima facie it appears that Ajey Nagar and Deepak Char (manager of Carry Minati channel) have made defamatory statements and used vulgar language against the plaintiff. These videos need to be taken down immediately. There should be injunction against all those who circulate and re-circulate these videos on social media platforms. This is a fit case to pass ad-interim injunction orders against the defendants.”

The court directed that the disputed video be removed and restrained the defendants from posting or distributing similar content until further orders are passed.
