An urban-centric rom-com with a dull first half that improves post-interval… KartikAaryan terrific… Writing lacks depth… A better release window could have helped. Final word? TuMeriMainTeraMainTeraTuMeri is an average, urban-centric watch… However, releasing amid the ongoing Dhurandhar wave is likely to dent its boxoffice prospects.

On the whole, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri is a fair entertainer. It has the merits to do decent business but the opposition of Dhurandhar (in its fourth week) and Avatar: Fire And Ash (in its second week) will prove to be tough on the film.

On the whole, if you are fans of any of the entities here—Dharma, Kartik, Ananya, the rom-com, the family melodrama—this is your fodder. If not, it’s still a relaxing romp as long as you keep telling yourself in the first hour, ‘Sabra ka phal meetha hota hai (The fruit of patience is sweet)!’

The film even crams in a medley of Hindi songs during a lavish shaadi sequence, also tossing in DDLJ’s Mehndi Laga Ke Rakhna, only for Aaryan to ruin the classic with awkward choreography.Towards the end, TMMTMTTM leans heavily into an Imtiaz Ali zone, echoing Jab Harry Met Sejal with the literal line, ‘What you seek is seeking you’, in its poetic finale.By the time the lovebirds reunite, the audience has already moved on.

TMMTMTTM has its heart in the right place and its intent is earnest but it seldom knows when to pull back. It has its moments and even a surface-level charm. It entertains briefly, offers sporadic humour, overstays occasionally. It gestures at progressiveness but retreats into safe, noisy comedy. But truth be told, it’s watchable – also because of the beautiful Croatia with its cobbled alleyways and turquoise waters – before it evaporates. And as Rumi and Rehaan serenade through the length and breadth of this coastal land, you’ll hold out hope for romance in your heart.

Outwardly, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri suffers a personality disorder. The first, frivolous half about a romantic writer running into a wedding planner on an international airport, and the second-half about two people’s mutual love being trammelled by their family obligations, seem like Venus and Mars on a collision course.But here’s the thing: this Venus is not marred by its leaning in Mars, even if the two halves do seem to be incongruent initially. Somehow, it all adds up to a breezy experience, with a generous helping of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge to boost the buoyancy.
