In an exclusive chat with Instant Bollywood, Sonakshi shared some heartwarming and unexpected stories from her childhood, including the fact that she almost made it to the national level in volleyball.

Yes, you read that right. Before the glamour, Sonakshi was more at home on the volleyball court than on a film set.
“I used to play volleyball a lot. I had even reached the national-level selections. I was that good,” she revealed with a smile.

When asked about her early days, many assume she had a typical ‘star kid’ upbringing, surrounded by movie shoots and a lifelong dream of becoming an actress. But Sonakshi was quick to set the record straight.
“I’ve had a very blessed life, and I’m truly grateful to my parents for that. Of course, there are misconceptions, like just because you’re from a film family, you must have always wanted to be an actor,” she said.
“Contrary to that belief, I hardly grew up watching films. I had no interest in becoming an actor. I was more into sports. In school, I was only interested in sports, nothing else. In fact, even when I used to go to my dad’s sets, I’d get really bored and come back. Because when you’re not directly involved, being on set is very boring.”

What really stands out, though, is how grounded she is despite being raised in a well-known film family. When asked about her down-to-earth personality and where that simplicity came from, Sonakshi gave full credit to her mother.
“I think because we didn’t get too involved in industry matters. We were kept away from it. We had a very normal upbringing. And for that, I’d like to credit my mom. She raised us in a very protected and proper way. A very normal way. So, I think that really helps. Also, when you grow up and are exposed to the world, it helps a lot.”
From smashing goals on the volleyball court to winning hearts on the big screen, Sonakshi Sinha is a star who never forgets her roots. And maybe, that’s what makes her shine a little brighter.
